  1. Happy belated birthday.

Congratulations on HP Jetdirect thing. My main printer (Epson AcuLaser C1100N) is connected to my network router (Time Capsule) by network cable, which makes printing from my main computer, laptop and Laurent laptop very easy. I am very happy that I bought the printer with networking. Many routers have built-in USB port of connecting to printers.

  2. Thank you, Antony =)

Heh...when I got the printer, I should've got it with a JetDirect card already installed - it would've saved me from having to deal with what I mentioned above. Oh well =P

If they work the way I think they do, having a router with a USB port would also be useful, especially for older printers that couldn't be connected to the router any other way. For that matter, if the router's USB port could be used for devices other than printers, it could prove to be very useful...

...especially if the device is an external hard drive: that way, if certain files need to be available for sharing (and editing), it wouldn't require taking the drive back and forth between computers or leaving any particular computer on all the time.
