Intro

With few║*IN/1║ exceptions, I have effectively taken an indefinite hiatus from updating my site. I just completely lost interest in updating it because...well, because I have absolutely no idea what to do with it at this point. Part of me wants to update the home page to reflect this, and part of me wants to keep it (and the majority of my site) as-is, acting as a time capsule of sorts... 😕

(║*IN/1║ The only areas that will continue to receive updates are: this page, Wolfey's character profile, and the WordPress installation used for the blog portion of my site [for maintenance/security purposes only].)

Since it will likely be a long, long time before I can finally figure out exactly what I want to do with my site, I want to show that I'm still (trying to be) active, at both my site and other sites. Until I find a new purpose for my site, this page - for all intents and purposes - is to be considered my new home page.

Heh. Perhaps, in trying to figure out a future for this site, I'm looking to the past for answers: my site originally started out as a "portal" page (and a place to host the profiles for my RP characters)...and this "new" home page is basically echoing that setup.

Updates

Only the three most recent updates will be shown in this section; all updates prior to those will be listed in the HTML comment tags of this page, under the section labeled "Page Last Updated".

  • 2020/01/12:
    • "Locations":
      • Removed the link for "Katbox Community Forums" (as it has been shut down since the last update to this page).
        • For archival purposes: its address was "http://forums.katbox.net/" and my account name on that site was "Wolfey".
    • "Links":
      • Added a new link: "Portal Page Backup". It leads to the most-recent version of the Internet Archive's copy of this page, in the event that the version hosted on "wolfey.sillydog.org" becomes inaccessible.
      • Updated the link for "Character Background Info" (as it can no longer be accessed from its original URL).
        • Information has also been added in regard to the state of old links and formatting on that page.
  • 2019/01/05:
    • "Locations":
      • Merged the list of E-Mail addresses with the list of locations (formerly referred to as "list of sites" in the "Updates" section).
      • Revised the list of locations by splitting them up into separate sub-lists.
        • The sub-list categories (in order of appearance) are: "E-Mail Addresses", "Social Media Sites", "Art Sites", "Other Sites", and "My Site".
      • Added headings for each sub-list.
      • Revised the order of entries in the "Social Media Sites" and "Art Sites" sub-lists.
      • Updated the link for my "deviantART" account to point to the revised URL.
      • Added another link, to a "Contact Form" page (in the "My Site" sub-list).
      • Revised the wording and/or positions of various lines of (non-sub-list) text in this section (to improve readability).
  • 2018/04/12:
    • (Document Metadata):
      • Added code to fix various issues in regard to the display of this page (when viewing it in a mobile browser). Font sizes should now be corrected, and CSS "media" queries should now be applied.
      • Added code to fix various issues in regard to HTML validation. This does not appear to have any visible effect on the appearance of this page.
    • (Stylesheet - Inline):
      • Added code to adjust the formatting of horizontal rulers (so that they fit in with the design of this page).
      • Added code to display an icon for notes (to make them easier to find).
      • Added code to display borders around the top and bottom sides of scrollable sections (to make them easier to find).
      • Added code to reposition all navigation list entries into a single column (if the width of the page drops below a certain value).
      • Added code to prevent "bold" formatting from being applied to "important" text (if needed).
      • Added code to format the "date" portion of an update in larger text with "bold" formatting (to make it easier to identify where an individual update starts/ends).
      • Revised code used for scrollable sections. Originally, that code would only be applied to the "Updates" list; now, it can be applied to any section (if needed).
    • "Intro"; "Links":
      • Revised the information in the paragraphs referencing "indefinite limbo" to:
        • Replace all occurrences of the aforementioned phrase with "indefinite hiatus".
        • Update the wording of the aforementioned paragraphs to work with the updated phrase.
    • "Locations":
      • Revised the order of entries in the list of sites.
      • Updated code so that "bold" formatting is no longer applied to an entire entry - it is now only applied to the username (to make it easier to find).
      • Revised the text above the list of sites to remove the indication of how they are sorted.
        • This is so that one can safely assume that the entries in these lists (and, unless otherwise noted, any other list on this page) are sorted in order of personal preference.
      • Added information stating that I may take a significant amount of time to reply to any received messages.
    • "Locations"; "Characters":
      • Added horizontal rulers in various places (to improve readability).
    • "Links":
      • For the list item under "Wolfey's Website": updated code so that the "Intro" section of text now functions as a link (leading to its respective section on this page).

NOTE #1: Two precautions have been taken in order to assist with minimizing the chances of spam being sent to these addresses: one, they are only being provided as text (with no associated "mailto:" links); two, they have been intentionally obfuscated (although it should be easy for one to manually deobfuscate them).

NOTE #2: I also have one more E-Mail account - on "SillyDog [dot] org", with a username of "Wolfey" - but have not been able to access it since (mid-)June 2017. If you have sent any E-Mail messages to that account since then, I have not seen them (and want to apologize to you for not mentioning this sooner) - if necessary, please re-send them to one of the above accounts instead.

Also, here are some important things that I would like to mention:

  • It could take days, weeks, or - in some circumstances - even longer before I actually get back to you. This is the result of some personal issues (from many years ago) that have greatly hampered my productivity.
    • I have become both a perfectionist and procrastinator with my messages: I obsess over their details, as I want to be absolutely sure that everything looks and sounds OK...but then postpone sending them, because I always worry that - after they are sent - I will find something that was overlooked (and is now too late to fix).
    • Please be patient with me, as I am not ignoring you: I just don't feel comfortable with sending anything until I'm absolutely sure that it's ready to be sent...and that I feel ready to send it.
  • Although I may post (or reply to) things from my accounts, that is a (relatively) rare occurrence: these accounts are primarily used for the purposes of accessing members-only content and automatically watching new content provided by the users who I follow.

Characters

As mentioned above, my site originally started out as a "portal" page: the only unique thing about my site (at the time) was the "RP Characters" section, containing profiles for the characters I used to RP as a long time ago.

When I stopped RPing, I also stopped maintaining (and updating) the profiles for every character except Wolfey║*CH/1║. However, considering how long I've had my characters, along with how much effort I had put into them (in regard to both their profiles and their presence in various RPs), I want to ensure that they will still be a part of this site.

(║*CH/1║ As he is my SONA, I still actively maintain/update his profile as necessary.)

Eventually, I plan to revise my other characters' profiles so they can make use of the template used by Wolfey's character page (which is a prototype of a modular character template I first started work on many years ago, and had originally planned to implement for my other characters once I finished it for Wolfey).

Notes

  • This page makes heavy use of code from the stylesheet used for Wolfey's character profile; both it and the layout of the profile page itself are a prototype of what I want to eventually use for my site (once I figure out what to do with it). The logo - excluding the white outer border, which was added for the version shown here in order to make it readable - is one that I've wanted to use to replace my home page logo for quite a while...so, if you ever see the home page use this, then I guess I finally figured out what to do with my site 😛
  • The quality and content provided on this page should not be taken as an indication of the quality of my work in general: my character profile is a much better example of that, considering the amount of effort I have been putting in to it over the years. I tend to take a long time to get things done just right...but, at this point, I wanted to put something up here to show that I'm still around. If I took the amount of time I usually take for things to finish creating this page...well, you wouldn't be reading this, because I'd still be working on it 😉
