Is the Footer’s License Site-Wide?

October 7, 2007 at 3:53 PM

In the blog entry titled "The Blog is Back!", I asked a question about a section of the template:

Regarding the "Creative Commons" license in the footer: This might be a stupid question, but does that cover everything on my site, everything in my blog, or just the blog template? I'm not sure if this is something I should worry about resolving, or if I just misinterpreted it and am worrying about nothing...

And that question's still valid - I'm not sure exactly how much that covers on my site. Let me note that I don't have a problem with things like referencing or quoting parts of posts on my site if you find them useful, or using something on my site for inspiration - by all means, if you find something useful, go ahead and use it! It's whether or not there would be problems between the license and content that technically isn't mine (like the screenshots) or content I don't want to be copied and/or remixed (like the character profiles) that I do need to get cleared up.

Hopefully this little issue doesn't force me to look for a new theme...I like it because of how simple it was to tweak for use on my own site, and I don't want to have to change it because of something in the footer that can't be applied site-wide.

I'll be leaving this page up until this issue is resolved.
